Week of Action - Child Safety and Youth Justice

26th of June - 30th of June 2023

The System is Stretched

We are excited to announce the upcoming Week of Action from June 26th to 30th. This is a crucial opportunity for Child Safety and Youth Justice Workers to come together, raise our voices, and address the systemic issues affecting our work in Child Safety and Youth Justice.

By participating in this week of action, you can make a significant impact on the lives of children, young people, and families you support. There are various actions you can take during the Week of Action, such as organising morning or afternoon teas, wearing purple union shirts, using stickers to raise awareness, arranging combined lunches with colleagues from Youth Justice and Child Safety, and sending postcards to local MPs.

It's time to stand united and advocate for the betterment of your working lives, so you can best support those who rely on you.

Ideas for the Week of Action

7

Hold a Morning / Afternoon Tea

This simple yet impactful activity allows colleagues to come together in a relaxed and supportive environment.  By gathering over a cup of tea and some delicious treats, we create a space for open discussions about the systemic issues we face and the changes we wish to see.

Wear Purple

By donning a purple garment, you join a collective movement of workers dedicated to advocating for positive change within the Child Safety and Youth Justice system. Wearing purple not only visually demonstrates our shared commitment but also serves as a conversation starter, sparking curiosity and prompting discussions about the important issues we face.

Put a sticker on

When you wear a sticker, you become a walking advocate, sparking conversations and raising awareness about the systemic issues we face. By wearing a sticker, we create a visual presence that shows our determination to create a better future for children, young people, and families.

Postcards to MP's

We're taking action by sending postcards - either individually or office-wide - to our local MPs, urging them to contact the premier and minister to develop a first-rate CS/YJ system for our young people and families. We'll be providing physical postcards to Service Centers and Union delegates throughout the week. You can download the office-wide (a3) postcard right here.
