I was recruited to a 3 month temporary role with Queensland Health, which was extended time and again but which remained an insecure position. As a union member, I benefited so much from the support of Together who assisted me in pursuing conversion to a permanent role. As a union delegate, I have witnessed so many members be supported by Together through the temp to perm application and appeal process, and gain permanency after working as temps for years with continuous, short term extensions and all the stress that comes with insecure work. Thanks to the strength of our union, we can now enjoy more security and certainty in our roles. 

I liken the union to having access to the world’s largest megaphone.  Not only are we able to amplify individual voices to be heard and listened to, we magnify our collective voices to win for members and the community.  Through advocating our shared interests, we balance out the competing views of government and business.  We put members first and seek to find solutions that benefit all. - John Conlan, Department of Health
